Container gardening

Mix herbs

I grow parsley, basil, coriander, 2 types of mint, rosemary and chive in this bucket, around 2 feet diameter. They provide more than enough fresh herbs for my daily use.

Lettuce

In the supermarket, we use to buy a whole head of lettuce. Actually, if you grow lettuce at home, you just remove enough outside big leaves for a meal. This will allow the inside smaller leaves to have a chance to grow big. By using them like this, I have been eating these 6 heads of lettuce from May till now.

  1. hi ms. cheng

very happy about seeing the pictures of your container gardens... I have been wondering the type of herbs you would have :)

I started (in one small pot) green onions, cilantro and basil, and in another some kind of peas (but mostly interested in getting pea vines out of this pot)

BTW, I just received from the library Holzer's book. Thanks for the recommendation.

  2. Hi chapstick121,

That's great, i am sure you will enjoy using your own produce.
BTW, in case you may not know, to help basil to grow well, you need to keep picking the top leaves regularly, so that the small side leaves (at the joints) could grow big and branch out, you will have a bushy plant with a lot of basil to use.

    Happy reading
